South-South and Triangular Cooperation

Highlight:

The Connector is being developed in line with the outcome of the third Asia-Pacific Director General Forum on SSC convened in Nov. 2020 - at the height of the pandemic- and concluded that: “ESCAP [shall] proposes concrete regional actions to facilitate SSC and also reviews regional and subregional mechanisms for such interactions”

Earlier this year, the preparatory meeting for the 4th AP DG Forum held in March (convened as a roundtable and associated event to the APFSD 2022) highlighted the “need for a regional platform to document successful experiences, promote exchanges between partners [and most importantly] promote matching of assistance recipients and providers”

ESCAP and UNOSSC were therefore entrusted to explore existing knowledge-sharing platforms and review technical options to build on these or develop a new platform for SSC in Asia and the Pacific.

In line with this request, ESCAP sought to set up a virtual dedicated and interactive platform for the benefit of the Asia-Pacific DG Forum members and partners to facilitate the promotion and exchanges of South-South and Triangular Cooperation good practices, knowledge, expertise, as well as networking among focal points/ members.

In a nutshell, our goal is to bridge the supply and demand gap for technical cooperation through South-South and Triangular Cooperation. The Connector achieves that through 3 main service lines: Connect, Engage, and Learn
