The Third Session of the Committee on Energy will be held virtually from 24 to 26 February 2021. The Committee will be organized under the theme “Energy transition for a greener, more resilient and inclusive energy future in the Asia-Pacific”. It will review and discuss relevant issues on energy transition in the time of COVID-19 and to provide guidance and propose areas for regional cooperation that contribute to enhancing the security and resilience of the region’s energy systems.
The Committee will provide a platform to review the progress made towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goal 7 on sustainable energy, address regional and national policies and measures that have supported achieving targets of the Goal 7 on energy access, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The Committee will review the draft regional road map on power system connectivity: promoting cross-border electricity connectivity for Sustainable Development as requested by the Commission at its 76th session. The Committee will deliberate on the implementation of its work and the Subprogramme on Energy in the intersessional period, review the activities of the expert working groups and provide guidance on their further work.
The Committee will also initiate the preparatory work for the Third Asian and Pacific Energy Forum at ministerial level, to be held in 2023.
