The Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Accelerated Modalities of Action Pathway (SAMOA Pathway) is coming to an end in 2024. Paragraph 20(a) of UN General Assembly Resolution (A/RES/76/203) calls for the convening in 2024 of a Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS), which will, inter alia, be aimed at assessing the ability of small island developing States to meet the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. This meeting will take place in Antigua and Barbuda.
As part of the preparation of the Fourth International Conference on SIDS, we will convene SAMOA Pathway Pacific Regional Review in August and several consultations beforehand so that diverse perspectives could be reflected in the final review. In this context, the first engagement, SAMOA Pathway Consultation: Strengthening Partnership with Universities and Research Networks will be held on 13th June as a special event during 2023 Pacific Update. It aims to gather the views of Pacific youth, academia and researchers on the key priorities of the next plan of action for SIDS in the Pacific and beyond.
